Welcome to the biweekly RunCloud RoundUp of the news. In this issue we have two articles from the RunCloud blog, firstly Liew shows us how to set up a WAF using your .htaccess files on a RunCloud Apache+Nginx server. After that, we look at how the instant backup feature we recently rolled into the RunCloud platform can be used to easily create clones of your web applications.

In other news, some big news of major consolidation in the server management sector… cPanel announced that Oakley capital, the owners of Plesk, are now investing in and acquiring cPanel! Evan You and the development team behind Vue.js, one of the most popular and versatile reactive javascript front end frameworks used with many PHP web applications, have announced Vue CLI 3.0 a major step forward for the framework. Syed Balkhi, the entrepreneur behind WP Beginner and several major WordPress plugins (Monster Insights, WP Forms, Optin Monster), has announced the WP Beginner Growth Accelerator Fund – an initiative that aims to help small businesses within the WordPress sector grow and compete with larger businesses within their sector. More news on the Gutenberg front, and this time from beyond WordPress…. Gutenberg is coming to Drupal… Gutenberg is eating the world!

In more news, Drupal is moving to Gitlab, since WordPress 4.9.8 Gutenberg and Classic Editor plugins have both hit 200,000 active installs, Dr Johannes Dahse details the PHP Exploitation technique involving unserialised data in PHP archives, and Laravel have released Nova, their beautifully designed administration panel for Laravel Web applications.

In this issue’s featured tutorials, Gillbert Pellegrom, at the Delicious Brains blog, looks at deploying WordPress using Git, Radu Siminleanu at Optasy, shows us how to integrate Gatsby with Drupal 8. And finally, we have a tutorial from James Williams at Computer Minds showing us how to Localise Dates in Twig Templates.

We also bring you a tutorial from Bvipul at Codewall showing us how single action controllers work in Laravel, Barry Van Bleen shares 8 resources to help readers learn about S.O.L.I.D design principles in OOP software development, then Christian Maioli M provides several strategies for dealing with poor code in limited time, before we wrap things up with Darkø Tasevski introducing us to functions in shell scripting at Dev.To.
